LaToya Lee is doing what she loves to do; encouraging our young students to be active and interested in their physical health, while learning the values inherent in team activities: leadership, strategy, rule adherence, and sportsmanship. LaToya graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Human Performance, prior to receiving her Master’s in Health & Physical Education. Most recently, LaToya has completed her M.A.Ed. Literacy Specialist Certification at Bellarmine Univeristy. When LaToya isn’t shaping the minds and bodies of our students, you can find her doing the other things she loves to do: dancing, singing, exercising, reading good books, and spending time with her amazing son, LaTrelle!

“Physical Activity is a lifestyle that everyone should strive for no matter what their athletic ability or level is. I believe there is something that everyone can learn to enjoy and excel at, they just have to figure out what it is.”

Q & A with Ms. Lee

Passion:

I love seeing the students challenge themselves to the next level and show leadership in the class. I especially love when they improve on their skills and have fun participating while they try their best. The best part for me is seeing when students take charge of their own learning and help teach their classmates the skills and strategies to win games (without me telling them) and seeing them improve their sportsmanship.

Philosophy:

Physical Activity is a lifestyle that everyone should strive for no matter what their athletic ability or level is. I believe there is something that everyone can learn to enjoy and excel at, they just have to figure out what it is.

Favorite part of teaching:

Seeing my students learn, build friendships, have fun, and knowing that I have some sort of positive influence on their lives.

Favorite teaching memory:

Any time we have school-wide events such as field day, Shamrock Games, school plays or musicals. I love seeing everyone come together to show school spirit and have fun.

Favorite thing about St. Martha:

The fact that it feels like one big family.

My hope for my students:

That everyone graduates high school/ college, discovers what they are passionate about in life, pursues it and achieves it.

Fun fact:

I love to sing, dance, exercise, read good books (when I have time) and spend time with my amazing son!
