Q & A with Ms. Fitzgerald

Highlight of the year:

I have two! I love taking the second grade on the Safety City field trip each fall. I also love celebrating First Holy Communion with the second graders.

Passion:

My passion is having each student feel that they are capable of anything they work hard for. The classroom is the place to make mistakes and grow!

Philosophy:

Mistakes are how we learn! My classroom is a place where students should feel comfortable to go outside of their comfort zone and learn, even though sometimes it’s messy.

Favorite part of teaching:

My favorite parts of teaching is building a classroom family throughout the year, seeing students apply their learning to other aspects of their life, and just simply being excited about what we are learning.

Favorite teaching memory:

Anytime a student has an “ah ha” moment or gets excited that they accomplished something are some of my favorite moments. When students are excited to share what they are learning with others also tops the list.

Favorite thing about St. Martha:

My favorite thing about St. Martha is definitely the community of people that are always there for you.

My hope for my students:

I hope that my students always feel safe and loved inside the walls of our classroom and that they have the confidence to know they are capable of anything they are willing to work for.

Fun fact:

I am a dog mom to Cooper and a proud alumni of St. Martha!
